Trading method #1 (9 EMA Entries)

Think about entries.
When your trading strategy says: enter on the cross of Stochastic lines, on the cross of MACD lines, when RSI comes from oversold/bought zone, when two moving averages cross, when divergence occur etc etc. When exactly do you enter?

Usually you would just visually double check that there is a signal from your indicator and then enter on the close of a signal bar.

hy edward first of all congratulations on the site is the best site of the forex but now i want to ask you in 5 minute what another indicator you use thanks in advance

I dunno . The new addition , Complex # 18 , Slingshot looks very promising! Why is it called Complex ? It's quite simple . NO indicators. PRICE ACTION , properly implemented is ALL you need ! Indicators are all a waste of time .

Comments , Edward, or anyone ??

Brian

Cool, thx Geogrge.

best indicator i think ema 9 and macd

Hi everyone -

A slight addition to my 5-4 post. " Trader VIc " was not aware of the Tenkan line , one of the five moving averages that comprise the Ichimoku ....... Indicator. Therefore , you can enter when the Heiken Ashi candle closes above or below the Tenkan line in the area around the turning points . You can confirm the turning point by " eyeballing " a short trendline break . The Ichi is quite good , but its strict rules results in very few trades.
The test of any method is its successful " staying power ". The Tenkan line moving average , and all of Ichi were invented by a Japanese newspaper columnist , ( in Economics ) in 1937. Japanese traders still us it, or variations of it today . In fact , if you concentrate on trading JPY pairs, you are trading WITH them , and that helps this become a self-fulfilling- prophesy !

Edward et al -

Here is the perfect companion for 9 EMA, but first see my 5-1 and 5- 2 posts telling you to substitute the Tenkan Sen line for the EMA . Tenkan is much better and has been around since 1937.

Okay , now , go to : www.trading-naked.com/123-reversal.htm to see description
of Vic Sperandeo's ORIGINAL version of his 1-2-3 . Unlike his many copycats , Vic enters on a trendline break just after point 2. The other versions get you in closer to point 3 missing some profits . So , don't be shy....." go naked " , and get more profits.

Also , when using 1-2-3, you will notice how the legs of the price swings in an uptrend form the letter " W " & in a downswing the letter " M " . It is uncanny how accurate the simple methods are !

So, there you have it. Try it .

George

Thank you, George

That's very interesting, I'll try it.

Best regards,
Edward

Hi Edward -

Forgot to add .

The Tenkan line from the Ichimoku Indicator is a moving average of the last 9 highs and lows. Much better than EMA .

George

Hi Edward - Just one suggestion to enhance 9 EMA's good performance . Bring up the Ichimoku Indicator and blank

out everything except the Tenkan line. Substitute it for the 9 EMA , and you will see what I mean . You may keep the

MACD , but it is not mandatory.

George

Hi Edward!
9EMA strategy is perfect, its so good that I am able to make good profits trading on this one indicator alone! Thank you very much!

Hello everybody
Very nice site by Edward & Team. Great work I must say. Here I would like to suggest that Gann HiLo Activator (SSL) is a better choice than 9 EMA for timing entries. It gives right signal almost every time. I found this nice indicator from this site as well. so its not my own idea.
Happy New Year.

Hi Hugo,

Experts may say anything, but the market will do it its own way: one year it could be the worst time to trade, the other year it could be the easiest time to make profits. All I want to say is that results of the previous years don't guarantee the same this year.

But, you have the point about paying attention to the general expectations of the public; it's obvious that the closer we're to the holidays season, the less trading volume will be seen, and so this may affect the strategies we use.

The best advice would be to study the market as you trade, don't attempt any serious risky trading, and most importantly, don't give up on your trading strategy if you just started or if it fails to deliver during this time, otherwise you may accidentally close the doors on one of the good winning strategies in your arsenal.

Best regards,
Edward

Hi Edward,

first of all, thanks for sharing your information! This is great!

I heard experts saying that traditionally the period after Thanks Giving until mid January trading with technical indicators doesn't work that well. At least not for nowbie traders like me as the market seems to change it's behavior there.

Do you have any information on that? Should I better avoid this period since I am not very experienced yet?

Thanks!

Regards,
Hugo

Hi Aloy,

Method: Exponential,
Applied to Close.

Regards,
Edward

I like the EMA 9 as shown on the screen, but what is its exact parameter i.e. what is the MA method (Exponential/Simple etc) and is it applied to the close/open etc of the candle stick?

Thanks,

Aloy
